Brief pro­file

The Hei­de Region Devel­op­ment Agency (EARH) was formed in 2013 by Hei­de munic­i­pal admin­is­tra­tion and the 11 sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ties as an insti­tu­tion under pub­lic law. Its work focus­es on imple­ment­ing the urban-rur­al plan­ning con­cept and on pro­mot­ing the region­al econ­o­my. A strate­gic pri­or­i­ty in this con­nec­tion is to max­imise the use of the renew­able ener­gies gen­er­at­ed in the region. On this basis the devel­op­ment agency launched its ENTREE100 project ini­tia­tive, whose objec­tive is to achieve the large-scale sup­ply of ener­gy with very high renew­able quo­tas. The req­ui­site expe­ri­ence in large-scale plant oper­a­tion can be obtained through instal­la­tion of myr­i­ad types of pow­er-to‑X facil­i­ties at the demon­stra­tion site/Heide cam­pus, a ded­i­cat­ed space where real-world labs belong­ing to the tech­nol­o­gy part­ners will take their place along­side facil­i­ties for research and sci­ence. To make this pos­si­ble, we pro­mote the close inter­ac­tion of politi­cians, indus­try, sci­ence and local authorities.

Activ­i­ties in the real-world laboratory

The EARH is the ini­tia­tor, provider of ideas and dri­ving force behind the ENTREE100 pro­gramme and the envis­aged project. With­in the real-world lab­o­ra­to­ry, it will play a key role in sup­port­ing the coor­di­na­tion, PR man­age­ment and net­work­ing asso­ci­at­ed with the project. Through­out all the design stages, the EARH will be involved in par­tic­u­lar in the tech­ni­cal, legal and com­mer­cial fea­si­bil­i­ty aspects, as well as in inte­grat­ing all the site activ­i­ties, bear­ing in mind that the project must be exe­cut­ed pur­pose­ful­ly, also in syn­er­gy with oth­er programmes.
